What is a PBN?
PBN is essentially what it stands for – a private blog network that is designed to rank you in, usually, super tough industries. The main advantage of the PBN is that it is super private. It is possible to hide the entire network so you competitors won’t found out. Another advantage is the fact that these websites would link to you only. Or whoever else you want. You have full control over the links and only have the access.

The only cons of this sort of strategy is that it can take quite some time to manage. Also, it’s not the cheapest option. Next, let’s talk about how to build one. This is not a guide on how to build a PBN, rather, just a summary of that’s needed:
- Find expired/non-expired domains that are theme related
- Build a website
- Wait
- Add links
- Maintain blogs
On a surface, it doesn’t seem like such a hard work but building and maintaining PBN is actually a hard work.
Finding domains
Obviously, this is likely the hardest part of this whole strategy. You need to find domains that are related to your business. You need to make sure that the domains are not penalised by Google. Also, buying expired or aged domains that have no authority or supporting links is a waste of money. So you need to make sure that all the domains have great backlinks in order to make your PBN powerful.
Building websites
Now here you have 3 options. First – you can redirect domain to your business website (either homepage or a landing page) but that has nothing to do with PBN.
Second option – build a brand new website using the expired/aged domain. Now this works really well but if you are building a PBN of 50+ blogs, you will certainly need to remove all the footprints, use different shared hosting accounts, use premium themes, logos, great content, etc … it takes time and resources.
Third option – rebuild website what it used to be before you acquired or before it expired. This is done via Web Archives. This would probably be the best option because if you buy 100+ domains, then most of the sites will be different. But it’s also the hardest and most time-consuming option.
Waiting and adding links
Now of course, after the wesbites are build, you’d have to wait for a few weeks before you can add the backlinks. It would make it more natural. Another thing to consider – the velocity of links being added. If you have 100 websites ready then you should NOT add all 100 links at once. Do it 2-5 a day to make it more natural.
Maintaining the PBN
Now this task is quite annoying as it would need regular maintenance. Google loves fresh content. You’d need to add new piece of content every now and then. For PBNs, it’s probably best to add 1 article month. However, if you own 100s of PBN blogs then it might take a while.
